turf

An area or territory considered someone's own, often defended or familiar.

"He's always defending his turf at work."

A layer of earth with grass growing on it, used for lawns or pitches.

"We need to lay new turf in the garden."

To remove someone from a place, often forcefully or rudely.

"The bouncer turfed him out of the pub."
